Transfer your old email to Gmail

If you have Google Workspace with us, we transfer your old email to Gmail for you. From any provider where you can read email via IMAP, and that is almost all providers.

How it works

1. In your portal, go to Email and open Transfer old email to Gmail for your Google Workspace.
2. For each mailbox, enter your old email address and the password of that old mailbox. We fill in the Gmail address ourselves. Change it if your email needs to go to a different address.
3. Click Test and prepare. We look up your old mail server and test whether we can log in. If that fails, you see right away which mailbox it is.
4. Put the move in your cart and pay. It starts right away.

What is included

• All email from your inbox, sent items and your own folders. Folders become labels in Gmail, subfolders become nested labels.
• The real dates, what was read and unread, and messages with a star or flag.
• Deleted mail goes to the trash in Gmail. We skip spam.
• Gmail does not accept messages larger than 35 MB. We count these and you can see them in your portal.

Calendar and contacts do not come along. You move these with an export (for example an .ics and a .vcf file) and an import in Google.

How long it takes

That depends on how much mail you have and how fast your old provider is. A few thousand messages are usually there within an hour. A full mailbox of many years can take a day. You can see the progress per mailbox in your portal, and you get an email when it is done. You can keep using Gmail in the meantime.

Mail that still arrives

If mail still arrives on your old server, for example because your domain has not fully moved yet, we check every 6 hours for two weeks to see if there is anything new and add it. No duplicates.

Your password

We store the password of your old mailbox encrypted, only for the move. We delete it two weeks after it is finished. If you change the password during the move, enter the new one in your portal and we continue where we left off.
