Game Developer for Roblox: installing, connecting and building

Here is how to turn on the Studio plugin, connect it to your account and give your first build instruction.

The Game Developer for Roblox is an AI game developer that works directly in your Roblox Studio, through our Studio plugin. You type what needs to be built. It builds objects, terrain, screens and Luau scripts in the place that is open and tells you what it did after each round. You can find it in your account under Game Developer.

Install

  1. In your account under Game Developer, download the file NetslimGameDeveloper.lua.
  2. Open Roblox Studio and click Plugins › Plugins Folder. Put the file in that folder (Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%RobloxPlugins, Mac: ~/Documents/Roblox/Plugins). Studio picks it up right away. Sometimes you need to restart Studio.
  3. The Plugins tab now shows Netslim › Game Developer. Click it to open the panel.

Connect

  1. In your account under Game Developer, click Create pairing code. The code is valid for 10 minutes and works once.
  2. Type the code in the panel in Studio and click Link.
  3. Studio asks once whether the plugin may talk to netslim.nl. Choose Allow. Without that permission, the plugin can't do anything.

Build

Type your request, as precise or as loose as you like, and click Build. It first looks at what is already in your place and builds on that, in its own folders. It works in rounds: after each round you see in the panel what it did. When it is done, it tells you how to test it with Play. If it needs something from you, it asks one question. You type your answer in the same box.

Each round is one step in Studio's history: Ctrl+Z (or the Ctrl+Z button in the panel) undoes a whole round. Not right? Type what should change.

Good to know

  • It only works in the place that is open. Publishing, saving to Roblox and anything involving your Roblox account is up to you.
  • Code that runs in Studio may not use the internet or load modules from outside. The same goes for scripts for your game. We and the plugin check this.
  • We see your request, the names and types of objects in your place, and the scripts it writes or that you let it read. No screenshots.
  • A fair-use limit applies per day. You can see it at the bottom of the panel. All tasks are in your account under Game Developer.
  • It works with AI. Check its work as you would with a new colleague, and test with Play. Can't work it out? Send us a message.
