Do I need to import my products? How the edge learns your pages

Short answer: no. The edge learns your pages on its own. When a CSV or product feed is useful, and what for.

Short answer: no, you don't need to import anything. The edge learns your pages and products on its own. There are three types of files you can upload, but each has a different purpose. See each one below.

How the edge learns your pages

Because all your traffic passes through the edge, the edge sees every page that someone requests: visitors, Googlebot, AI crawlers. Once a day, it records what is on each page: title, meta description, H1, canonical, word count, product data (price, stock, image) and what could be better. This is your inventory, and you can see it under My account › Edge SEO › SEO per page.

  • At go-live we also have the edge crawl your whole site once, using your sitemap and the links on your pages. This way, even products that are rarely visited are in the inventory within a few hours, even with hundreds of thousands of products.
  • After that the edge keeps everything up to date daily. New products appear on their own as soon as someone (or Google) requests them.

Your web shop doesn't have to do anything for this, and no connection to your database is needed.

Which files can you upload, and what for?

File Where Purpose Needed?
CSV with titles and descriptions Edge SEO › SEO per page › Edit in bulk yourself Change texts in one go. You download the list the edge already has, edit columns in Excel and upload it again. Only if you want to edit texts yourself.
Product feed (Google Shopping, XML or CSV) Through us, for a large AI run Give the AI extra information (brand, price, EAN, category) for better texts, and include products the edge hasn't seen yet. No. Useful for a large catalog.
CSV for Price Watch Price Watch › Add product › CSV You tell us which products to monitor and at which competitors. Has nothing to do with SEO. Only for Price Watch.

The CSV for titles and descriptions

This is not an import of your products, but a list of changes. You download what the edge already knows, with the current title and description next to it. Only fill in the cells you want to change. Empty cells stay as they are. After you upload it, it is live within a minute, without your web shop changing. You can also add rows for pages the edge has not seen yet: as soon as that page comes by, the edge puts your text on it.

The product feed

If you let the AI improve all products with Improve pages, it works with what the edge already knows about your pages. For most shops, that is enough. For a very large or very technical catalog, we can use your product feed instead (the same one you use for Google Shopping). It lists brand, model number, EAN and category, so the AI writes more precisely. Even then, you see 20 examples first before anything goes live.

Summary

  • No import needed: the edge learns your pages by itself.
  • CSV in SEO per page: to change texts in bulk.
  • Product feed: optional, for better AI texts with large catalogs.
  • CSV in Price Watch: to choose which products we monitor against which competitors.
