Put your site live on Netslim Edge (DNS)

Which records you change, what stays the same, and how to go back.

Going live is one DNS change. Your website itself does not change, and you can always go back within minutes.

In your account: three ways

Go to My account › Edge SEO. As long as your site is not live yet, Go live appears at the top.

  • Automatic: if your domain is with Netslim and the DNS runs with us, you choose the names (your domain, www and any extra domains) and click Go live with one click. We keep your old records. With Restore they are back, up to seven days after going live.
  • Set it up yourself: if your domain is somewhere else, you see exactly which records to change there. Then click Check. If everything points to the edge, your site goes live right away and you get an email.
  • Let Netslim do it: enter where your domain is and when it suits you. We will contact you and make the switch.

Before you start

  • We test everything first on a separate test address that is not in Google.
  • One day beforehand, set the TTL of your A and AAAA records to 300 seconds. This makes the change (and a rollback, if needed) fast.

Switch over

  • Set the A record of your domain (@) and of www to the IP address of the edge that we send you.
  • Set the AAAA record to the IPv6 address of the edge, or remove it.
  • MX, TXT and other records stay as they are. Your email does not change.

Your welcome email contains all the steps. We send you the IP of the edge at step 4.

Then

  • The edge gets an SSL certificate by itself within a minute.
  • We let the edge crawl your whole site once, so all your pages are in your account within a few hours. You do not need to import anything.
  • WordPress: we make sure your site keeps seeing the real IP of visitors. Do you use Wordfence? Under How does Wordfence get IPs choose X-Forwarded-For, and under Trusted Proxies enter the IP of the edge (the same as in your A record) and 127.0.0.1.
  • Ander platform: laat je webserver de header X-Forwarded-For vertrouwen van het IP van de edge.
  • Koppel Search Console in je account, dan zie je vanaf dag één het verschil.

Terug

Zet de A- (en AAAA-)records terug naar je eigen webserver. Er is niets anders aangepast.
